Abstract

A method for driving a plasma display panel having a first electrode, a second electrode, and a panel capacitor formed between the first electrode and the second electrode. The method includes a reset period, an address period and a sustain discharge period. In the reset period, the first voltage waveform falling from the first voltage to the second voltage is applied to the first electrode in the first period. Wall charges formed during the sustain discharge period are erased. A second voltage waveform rising from the third voltage to the fourth voltage is applied to the first electrode in the second period. A third voltage waveform falling from a fifth voltage to a sixth voltage is applied to the first electrode in a third period, wherein the sixth voltage is lower than the second voltage.
