Abstract

A method and device for providing an interactive mobile multimedia terminal (100). The mobile multimedia terminal (or MMT) (100) allows receiving a broadband data stream using a digital data broadcast receiver (102), such as DVB-T. Interactivity is achieved using built-in local or cell-scale communication links (116 and 112). The local link (112) can be WLAN or Bluetooth (low power RF transceiver). The large cell scale communication link (116) may be a mobile station link such as GSM, CDMA, TDMA, or the like. If no local point of attachment is found, a mobile station with a Bluetooth link can be used as an IP router or as a portable base station for large cell-scale communications. The MMT (100) integrates DVB-T reception, digital display and communication links to provide interactivity in a mobile environment. The MMT communication link with the mobile station enables it to be used as an extended display for the mobile station.
