AI Technical Summary

Benefits of technology

This patent is about a method for creating a three-dimensional avator that can represent a person or animal's face. The method uses a search to identify features on the face and creates a 3D model around those features. The avator can also express emotions and feelings when interacting with other people or animals. This allows for a more accurate representation of a person's identity and helps understand the feelings of people and animals.

Problems solved by technology

While this widespread phenomenon provides the ability for contact between people any time of day or night, it is difficult to determine exactly how people are feeling by looking at their virtual identity.

[0036]As used herein, the term engine refers to software, firmware, hardware, or other component that can be used to effectuate a purpose. The engine will typically include software instructions that are stored in non-volatile memory (also referred to as secondary memory) and a processor with instructions to execute the software. When the software instructions are executed, at least a subset of the software instructions can be loaded into memory (also referred to as primary memory) by a processor. The processor then executes the software instructions in memory. The processor may be a shared processor, a dedicated processor, or a combination of shared or dedicated processors. A typical program will include calls to hardware components (such as I / O devices), which typically requires the execution of drivers. The drivers may or may not be considered part of the engine, but the distinction is not critical.

Abstract

A method is provided for transforming a two-dimensional image of at least one portion of a human or animal body into a three-dimensional model. A search is made of features indicative of at least a portion of the human or animal body within the at least one portion. A set of landmarks is identified that corresponds to the features. A 3D deformable mask is aligned, including the set of landmarks to create a 3D model of the face respecting its morphology, the deformable mask including a number of mesh shapes that correspond to at least one portion of the human or animal. The 3D model is animated by dividing it into concentric rings or quasi rings and applying different degrees of rotation to each ring, or quasi ring.
