Unit dose container with locking sleeve

ActiveUS20050183981A1Inexpensive and easy to assemblePrevents and at least frustrates unintentional withdrawSmall article dispensingOther accessoriesDetentBlisters
A container (10) includes a slidable tray (12) including a slot (34) and a locking sleeve (14). The locking sleeve (14) is formed by attaching a base (16) to a top (18). The tray (12) is made from a conventional blister package, with blisters (30) formed in a single layer plastic top for holding items (31). A backing sheet comprising a sealing paper or foil layer is used to secure the items (31) within the blisters (30). The tray (12) is placed on sliding guides (70) of base (16) so that a stop (54) extends through the slot (34) to prevent the tray (12) from sliding out of the sleeve (14). The base (16) includes detents (56) that engage with holes (36) to prevent the tray (12) from sliding. Manipulating a biaser (20), warps the part of the tray (12) between ribs (64) against the force of springs (48) and away from the base (16), which moves holes (36) away from detents (56), thereby allowing the tray (12) to slide within the sleeve (14).

Childproof package

Childproof packaging for a product such as matches or pharmaceutical tablets includes a sleeve and a container for the product within the sleeve. The package includes two pairs of latches, with each latch of a pair oppositely located on the package. A user must use both hands simultaneously, with a respective hand operating a respective pair of latches, to hold the latches in an unlatched condition and also simultaneously to apply pressure to the container to slide it outwardly relatively to the sleeve. Such a two-handed, five finger operation to open the package requires a dexterity that is easy for adults but very difficult for children. Each latch may be a spring arm mounted tab or button which seats in an aperture in the sleeve.

Child-resistant pill dispenser

A child-resistant dispenser for dispensing items, including a chassis (12) having a reservoir (40) for holding items (16) and a conveyor (14) including a conveyor pocket (18) for receiving an item (16a). The conveyor (14) is pivotably mounted within chassis (12) between a closed position in which the conveyor pocket (18) is inaccessible from outside the dispenser (10), and an open position, in which the conveyor pocket (18) is accessible from outside of the dispenser (10). The dispenser further includes a pathway positioned between the reservoir (40) and the conveyor pocket (18) when the conveyor (14) is closed. The pathway is blocked by the conveyor (14) when the conveyor (14) is open. A locking mechanism (20, 22) is provided for releasably locking the pill conveyor (14) in a closed position. A user must simultaneously apply pressure to both the conveyor (14) and the locking mechanism (20, 22) in order to open the conveyor (14).

Lock and release mechanism of child resistant unit dose package

A lock and release mechanism of a unit dose package has a cut away formed in the second panel of an outer sleeve of the package, the cut away having a pair of legs extending therefrom and defining a node therebetween. A cut line and a throat region are formed in an end flap of first and second side panels, respectively, of a slide card to bifurcate each end flap into first and second engaging segments. The first and second engaging segments engage an engaging surface of a cut away formed in a second panel of the outer sleeve to prevent the slide card from unintentionally sliding within the outer sleeve. A release feature is formed in the third panel of the outer sleeve. The first and second engaging segments are disengaged from the engaging surface of the cut away by depressing the node via the release feature.

Child-resistant and senior-friendly blister card package

The present invention is a novel child-resistant senior-friendly blister card packaging that is cheap and easy to manufacture. The packaging requires a push-peel-push method for opening, which is cognitively and physically challenging for children and mentally impaired adults. Yet, competent adults can easily open the package, especially after reading instructions. More specifically, opening the package requires the user to: 1) Push through an aperture to create a pull tab; 2) Pull on the pull tab to remove a panel; and 3) Push the blister to force the contents through the blister's seal. Furthermore, the packaging is designed to be tear resistant and to halt any propagation of a tear. Advantageously, the present invention is designed such that information such as instructions and product information can be easily printed directly on the packaging. Moreover, users may also record information directly on the packaging. Thus, the present invention not only provides child-resistant and senior-friendly features, but also provides convenience for viewing and recording information.

Thumb/Fingerprint Activated Pill Dispenser

A pill container / dispenser that includes fingerprint recognition circuitry located in a cap associated therewith. The cap is locked on the container and no pill can be dispensed from the container without first moving the cap. When a person places their thumb on the cap of the pill dispenser, a computer chip reads the thumbprint. If the person is an authorized user, the cap will be unlocked from the container and released so a pill can be dispensed from the container. If the fingerprint is not recognized, the cap will remain locked in position so that no dispensing will occur. Furthermore, if the computer chip recognizes tampering, such as a continued effort to remove the cap by a non-authorized user, a chemical spray is sprayed from the cap into the container. The spray will dilute or destroy the potency of the pills remaining in the container.

Packaging system with an improved inner structure

A package includes a slide card that is received in an outer sleeve having a false end wall. The false end wall extends between a top wall and a bottom wall to enhance the structural integrity of the outer sleeve. The false end wall provides child resistance in that it prevents a user from manipulating the outer sleeve to inadvertently disengage a locking feature that lockably retains a slide card in the outer sleeve. The false end wall also prevents a user from accessing the slide card through an opening that is created by removing an end wall.
