A novel medical probe assembly, system, and methods for the use thereof to treat tissue are described. The system optionally comprises an energy source, two probe assemblies, and one or more cooling devices to provide cooling to at least one of the probe assemblies. The probe assemblies may be configured in a bipolar mode, whereby current flows preferentially between the probe assemblies. The probe assemblies and system described herein are particularly useful to deliver radio frequency energy to a patient's body. RF energy delivery may be used for various applications, including the treatment of pain, tumor ablation and cardiac ablation.

Systems and methods for sensing temperatures of multiple functional blocks within a digital device and controlling the operation of these functional blocks in a manner that selectively reduces temperatures associated with some of the functional blocks, but not others. One embodiment comprises an integrated circuit having multiple functional blocks (such as processor cores) and a set of thermal sensors coupled to sense the temperatures of the functional blocks. The integrated circuit includes control circuitry configured to receive signals from the thermal sensors, detect thermal events in the functional blocks and to individually adjust operation of the functional blocks to reduce the temperatures causing the thermal events. In one embodiment, the control circuitry includes a detection/control circuit coupled to each of the functional blocks and a thermal management unit configured to evaluate detected thermal events and to determine actions to be taken in response to the thermal events.

An icemaker assembly includes an ice tray having an ice forming compartment, a water line configured to advance water from a water source to the ice tray, a valve operable to selectively block advancement of water through the water line while an actuation signal is generated, a control system operable to generate the actuation signal for a water advancement period, a water level detection system for determining if a level of water in the ice forming compartment is below a threshold value and generating a control signal in response thereto. The control system is further operable to alter a magnitude of the water advancement period in response to generation of the control signal. Water is initially advanced into the ice forming compartment for a first period of time during a first ice making cycle by opening the valve. If it is determined that the level of water in the ice forming compartment is below a threshold value during the first ice making cycle, a control signal is generated in response thereto and during a second ice making period the valve is opened for a second period of time in response to generation of the control signal so that water advances into the ice forming compartment of said ice tray through the valve during said second ice making cycle for a period of time that is greater than the first period of time.

Additionally, a method is provided for preparing such a foaming composition. Certain example embodiments of this invention relate to a frit slurry paste for use in assemblies (e.g., a vacuum insulated glass unit or a plasma display panel), and methods of making the same. Frit powder, binder material, and a water-based solvent are mixed together to form an intermediate mixture. The frit powder is substantially lead free, and the water-based solvent is provided at a first temperature. Additional water-based solvent is added to the intermediate mixture to form a frit slurry paste. The additional water-based solvent is provided at a second temperature, with the second temperature being lower than the first temperature. The binder material is provided at a concentration of 0.001%-20% by weight with respect to the frit slurry paste or the frit slurry paste absent the frit powder. The frit slurry paste has a bulk viscosity of 2,000-200,000 cps.

A flexible insulation blanket having a ceramic matrix composite (CMC) outer layer, and a method of producing a flexible insulation blanket having a smooth, aerodynamically suitable, outer surface by infiltrating ceramic material within the outer ceramic fabric layer of the flexible insulation blanket and curing the ceramic material to form a CMC layer. The CMC layer is cured while the blanket is under compression such that the resulting CMC layer has a smooth surface.

A process and apparatus is presented for the removal of sulfur from a catalyst. The catalyst is a dehydrogenation catalyst, and sulfur accumulates during the dehydrogenation process. The sulfur is removed before the catalyst is regenerated to prevent the formation of undesirable sulfur oxide compounds created during regeneration. The catalyst, during regeneration, includes redispersion of a metal on the catalyst, and removal of sulfur oxides overcomes the interference with chloride retention and metal redispersion in the regeneration process.

A method for preventing or reducing the development of delayed brain damage in a patient, comprises applying headwear (1) to the patient's head and circulating a fluid coolant through conduits (3) or passages in the headwear to cool the brain and thermostatically controlling the coolant temperature within a predetermined range to maintain the brain at a temperature sufficiently below normal for an extended period sufficient to prevent the death of neurons, glial or other cells that would otherwise die as a consequence of direct injury to the brain or other injury to the patient likely to cause injury to the brain.

A system and method to eliminate hard rub and optimize a purge flow in a gas turbine is provided. The gas turbine includes a stator configured to guide a flow of an incoming gas. The gas turbine also includes a rotor configured to expand the incoming gas and extract kinetic energy from the incoming gas. The gas turbine further includes a purge flow bled from a compressor and configured to reduce a temperature of a wheel space by limiting ingestion of the incoming gas. The gas turbine also includes an angel wing disposed between the rotor and the stator and configured to act as a sealing surface between the rotor and the stator. The gas turbine further includes a fan blade disposed on a surface of the angel wing at an axial position and configured to generate a recirculation zone of the purge flow, wherein the recirculation zone is reduces a volume of successive purge flows entering the wheel space.

A system for reducing a temperature of an exhaust gas stream of a gas turbine system according to an embodiment includes: a compressor component of a gas turbine system; an airflow generation system for attachment to a rotatable shaft of the gas turbine system, the airflow generation system and the compressor component drawing in an excess flow of air through an air intake section; a mixing area for receiving an exhaust gas stream produced by the gas turbine system; an air extraction system for: extracting at least a portion of the excess flow of air generated by the airflow generation system and the compressor component to provide bypass air; and diverting the bypass air into the mixing area to reduce a temperature of the exhaust gas stream; and a fluid injection system for injecting an atomized fluid into the mixing area to reduce a temperature of the exhaust gas stream.
