Abstract

The invention provides an image reading apparatus (X) including a light source, a case (2) containing the light source, and a board (8) fixed to the case. On the board (8), there are provided a plurality of sensor IC chips (7) for detecting a light from an image read region. The sensor IC chips (7) are located closer to a second side edge (8b) of the board (8) than to a first side edge (8a) thereof. Also, on the board (8), there is formed a predetermined wiring pattern. The sensor IC chips (7) are electrically connected to the wiring pattern by means of wires (W), which extend from the upper surfaces of the sensor IC chips (7) toward the first side edge (8a) of the board and are connected to the wiring pattern.
