Problems solved by technology

The second connector hangs down from the front side of the interconnection module 600 and is therefore vulnerable to damage during installation and use
Also, if the receptacle 610 needs to be removed or needs to be added, the entire FEC 602 covering a portion of the receptacle 610 must be removed and replaced
Also, positioning the first connector 602 to extend to the rear of the interconnection module 600 requires a difficult and expensive mechanical routing process that requires removal or modification of components already installed at the rear of the interconnection module 600

Abstract

The invention discloses a connector assembly comprising a housing having a jack interface that has a receptacle jack therein, which is configured to receive a plug. The connector assembly also includes a sensor bezel removably attachable to said jack interface. The sensor bezel includes an outer frame configured to engage the jack interface. The sensor bezel also includes jack cavities extending therethrough to allow passage of a plug when inserted into the receptacle jack. A sensor array is secured to the outer frame proximate the jack cavities. The sensor array comprises a sensor contact overlaying the jack interface. The sensor contact is aligned with, and configured to engage, a sensor probe associated with a plug insertable into the receptacle jack.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates generally to a connector for connecting electronic components in a network, and more particularly to an interconnection module or box that connects a network component to a sensor component. Background technique [0002] To better operate large electronic networks, sensor systems have been used to monitor the connections between the various components in the network. The sensor system typically includes an interconnection module housed in a patch panel, or any number of other network components, and the sensor system connects two separate network components. The interconnect module includes a receptacle, such as a modular receptacle, at the mating face. These sockets house patch cords which in turn are connected to the first network components. Each patch cord includes a cable consisting of a signal wire connected to a plug at one end. The plugs are received in corresponding receptacles, which allow the signal wires in ...
