The periphery of the diaphragm 6 is held between an O-ring 8 and an O-ring 10 which are clamped within the housing 4 by a threaded clamping ring 11 . A stand off 12 is rigidly connected to the center of the diaphragm 6 and the other end of the stand off 12 is rigidly connected to the center of a bender-actuator disk 14 . These component connections may utilize bonding, soldering, or other types of low profile joining processes. In most embodiments of the invention, the flex disk 14 does not have any other mechanical connection other than to the spacer block 12, so that its perimeter is free of any mechanical constraints.
