Embodiment Construction

[0024] figure 1 A system 1 for a typical mobile hospital bed 2 according to the invention is shown. The bed 2 includes a base 3 and a movable patient support 4. The patient cushion (not shown) is located on the upper side 5 of the patient support 4. The base 3 includes a guide wheel frame 6 having four guide wheels 7, and also includes four bed posts 8 extending upward from the guide wheel frame 6 to support the patient support 4. The upper end of each bed column 8 has the same sensor unit 9. In other words, the sensor unit 9 is an inherent part of the base 3, and the patient support 4 is connected to the upper ends of the four bed posts 8 through the sensor unit 9. According to the height of the patient and the relative position of the different areas 11 of the patient support 4, the bed 2 can be configured by a hydraulic device (not shown).

[0025] The sensor unit 9 is connected to the base 3 with the patient support 4 in a movable manner. This means that if the patient is...

Abstract

In order to provide a simple and reliable monitoring technique for a number of different parameters of a patient in a bed (2), a system (1) is provided, said system (1) comprising: at least one first sensor device (25) adapted to measure a first force component acting in a first direction (12), said first force component corresponding to a first parameter of the patient, at least one second sensor device (36) adapted to measure a second force component acting in a second direction (13, 14), said second force component corresponding to a second parameter of the patient, and a data device (16) adapted to acquire the measured data from the at least one first sensor device (25) and the at least one second sensor device (36) and to process those data in order to provide information about the number of parameters of the patient.

Description

Technical field [0001] The invention relates to a system for monitoring multiple different parameters of a patient on a bed. In addition, the present invention also relates to a method of operating the system and a computer program running in a computer. Background technique [0002] In different occasions, monitoring patients during their sleep is a standard activity, mainly used in hospital environments. Depending on the diagnosis, different parameters need to be monitored. During sleep, the parameters that often need to be monitored include weight, heart rate, breathing rate, and breathing abnormalities, as well as special exercise patterns. Very technical efforts and different technical means are required to measure these quantities. [0003] In the prior art, different techniques for obtaining information about the performance of the heart and lungs are known, such as the use of pressure sensitive sheets. A technique is described in US Patent 2005 / 0113721A1. According to t...
