Embodiment Construction

[0019] figure 1 A schematic diagram of a possible embodiment of an offshore system 1 according to the invention is shown. Only parts of upper deck 2 and lower deck 3 of the ship are shown. Drill tower 4 (here is multifunctional tower) is installed on upper deck 2. The tower is here embodied as a mast with a substantially closed outer wall. The mast here has a rectangular section with an internal space allowing to arrange inside it one or more winches and / or a heave compensation system. As an alternative tower, a derrick with a lattice structure as known from the prior art can be used. A tiltable J-lay tower 5 is installed adjacent to the multipurpose tower.

[0020] The multifunctional tower 4 comprises a lifting system 20 comprising a pulley 11 , a pulley 12 and, in the embodiment shown, detachable pulleys 13a and 13b for a lifting cable 14 . It should be noted that although split pulleys are the preferred embodiment, standard type pulleys could also be used. Lifting sy...

Abstract

This invention relates to an offshore system, comprising a drilling vessel, e.g. a semi-submersible drilling vessel comprising a deck (2) on which a drilling tower (4) for performing drilling operations is mounted. The vessel is furthermore provided with a support (21) for a tiltable J- lay tower (21) for laying a pipeline, said support being arranged next to the drilling tower, and the offshore system further includes a J- lay tower (5) which is or can be mounted on said support.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to an offshore system comprising a drill ship, for example a semi-submersible drill ship comprising a deck on which a drilling rig for carrying out drilling operations is mounted. Background technique [0002] Offshore systems are well known and commonly used to conduct drilling operations. The main disadvantage of such a system is that such a drillship, which can only perform drilling operations while other operations are performed, is inefficient and therefore has a high overall operating cost. [0003] It is known to overcome this disadvantage by replacing the drilling rig with a multifunctional tower as described in US6871609. This multipurpose tower is used for maintenance operations as well as drilling operations. This increases the efficiency of the offshore system. [0004] In WO 2005 / 059297, WO 2004 / 020275, US 6,932,553, US 6,868,902, US 6,763,898, US 6,926,259 (particularly in Figure 13) the applicant of the p...
