Embodiment Construction

[0021] figure 1 Shown is the central portion of a known continuously variable transmission commonly used in the transmission path of a personal vehicle between the engine and the drive wheels. The transmission mechanism includes two pulleys 1, 2, and each pulley is provided with two pulley pulleys 4, 5, and there is a metal pressure belt between the two pulley pulleys 4, 5 for moving from one pulley pulley to the other. A block pulley transmits rotational motion and incidental torque. The pulley pulleys 4, 5 are generally conically formed and at least one pulley pulley 4 is integrated in a transmission that is axially movable along a respective pulley shaft 6, 7 on which the pulley 4 is placed. The transmission generally also comprises actuating means for exerting an axial clamping force Fax on said at least one pulley 4, directed towards the corresponding other pulley pulley 5, so that the belt 3 is clamped therein.

Abstract

The invention discloses a quenching method for transverse elements for a metal push belt. The metal push belt comprises an endless tensile means and a plurality of relatively thin transverse elements incorporated in the belt freely moveable along the endless tensile means. The transverse elements comprise reciprocal front and rear principle faces along the push belt and a each transverse element includes an upper body part and a lower body part. The upper body part defines a recess for taking-up and supporting the endless tensile means and the lower body part defines a predominantly axially oriented step. The quenching method comprises the following steps of firstly heating the transverse elements, then placing a plurality of transverse elements in a basket-shaped element holding device with perforating bottom face and vertically downward immerging the element holding device in an oil bath groove for cooling, thereby generating a vertically upward oil stream mainly perpendicular to the bottom face through the bottom face, wherein the element holding device is filled with two to four layers of transverse elements, and the transverse elements predominantly lies with their principal faces on each other.

Description

[0001] This application is a divisional application of a Chinese invention patent application with a filing date of November 1, 2004, an application number of 200410092960.1, and an invention title of "Metal Pressure Belt, Transverse Element and Manufacturing Method". technical field [0002] The invention relates to a metal press strip, a transverse element for the metal press strip and a quenching method thereof. Background technique [0003] Such metal strips are known from the applicant's non-republished application NL-1020990 and patent specification EP-A-1219860. They have the disadvantage of being relatively difficult to produce. One such difficulty consists in maintaining the transverse elements in the desired (usually good) blank shape during quenching. During quenching where the element is heated to a considerable extent and then cooled relatively rapidly to relatively low temperatures such as those required by commonly known metal hardening processes, the element...
