Embodiment Construction

[0021] In an embodiment of the invention, the subnet 5 of the IP phone 1 is encouraged to communicate with a central server or PBX 3 to provide a client / server network such as figure 1 shown. The IP phones also communicate with each other to control the number of IP phones 1 trying to connect to the PBX 3 at the same time. figure 1 Four IP phones 1 are shown in , however, the subnet 5 may include any number of IP phones 1 .

[0022] In order to establish a control link to the PBX 3, the IP phone 1 performs a connection process, which generally includes: initialization delay, announcing that the IP phone is present on the subnet 5, joining or creating a doubly linked list, and finally connecting to the PBX 3. The final steps to connect to PBX 3 include the TCP connection phase, the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) phase and the registration phase, which are respectively in figure 2 , image 3 and Figure 4 shown in .

[0023] refer to Figure 5 , when the IP phone 1 is not con...

Abstract

The invention discloses a queuing method for coordinating attempts to connect a server. A client / server network comprises a plurality of IP devices communicating with a center server, and the IP devices communicate with each other so as to be queued into a list. The IP devices are then connected to the center server according to an order determined by the list. Before the attempt to connect to the center server, each of the IP devices verifies that the number of the current IP devices attempting to connect to the center server is not equal to a maximum number.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to client / server networks, and more particularly to a queuing method for coordinating connection attempts of IP phones that stimulate a server. Background technique [0002] In a typical client / server voice communication network, multiple IP phones communicate with the PBX using Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) connections. IP phones connect to the PBX using a 3-level process. This process generally includes obtaining a TCP link to the PBX, performing a secure connection, and creating a control link with the PBX or registering with the PBX. IP phones that rely on stimulus messaging typically require a persistent TCP control link to their PBX. Establishing a TCP connection generally requires a three-way handshake. [0003] For example, during certain events, such as recovering from a power failure, the PBX may become overloaded when a large number of IP phones attempt to establish connections simultaneously. A large ...
