Abstract

Provided is a method of transmitting a broadcast signal of a broadcast signal transfer apparatus. Based on the method, a basic layer signal of a plurality of sub-channels with a basic layer code element is generated and a strengthening layer signal with a strengthening layer code element is generated. In a first sub-channel corresponding to the part of the strengthening layer signal with data, a layer-level modulation code element is generated through modulating the basic layer code element and the strengthening layer code element layer by layer based on a layer-level modulation index. In a second sub-channel corresponding to the part of the strengthening layer signal without data, the basic layer code element is output. The layer-level modulation code element of the first sub-channel and the broadcast signal of the basic layer code element of the second sub-channel are transmitted.
