Embodiment Construction

[0077] A detailed description of the features of the presently preferred embodiments of the invention follows.

[0078] figure 1 is a pressure chamber 10 for use with a deformable beverage keg. Deformable beverage kegs are not shown in the figures but are known per se in the art. The pressure chamber 10 includes an upper portion constituting a pressure cap 12 and a lower portion constituting a container 14 . The pressure cap 12 has a pressure fluid inlet 18 for supplying pressure fluid to the pressure chamber 10 . The pressurized fluid is supplied from a pressure source such as a compressor (not shown) and is preferably a pressurized gas such as compressed air, carbon dioxide or the like. The pressure cap 12 is also provided with a safety valve 16 . The safety valve 16 may be set to a certain pressure corresponding to the maximum pressure allowed in the pressure chamber 10 . Typically, the maximum pressure is about 3 bar. Seal 20 seals the contact surfaces between pressu...

Abstract

A method and a system of cleaning and flushing a beverage dispensing system comprising a sealable pressure chamber for receiving a collapsible keg containing a beverage and a dispensing valve, comprises: (i) providing a first cartridge containing a cleaning fluid, (ii) positioning the first cartridge in the pressure chamber and pressurising the pressure chamber, (iii) opening the dispensing valve and dispensing the cleaning fluid from the dispensing valve, and causing the cleaning fluid to flow from the first cartridge through the dispensing line and being dispensed from the dispensing valve, (iv) disconnecting the first cartridge after the emptying of the cleaning fluid from the first cartridge, and removing the first cartridge, (v) providing a second cartridge containing a flushing fluid, (vi) positioning the second cartridge in the pressure chamber and pressurising the pressure chamber, and repeating the steps (iii) - (v) while using the second cartridge instead of the first cartridge.

Description

Background technique [0001] Beverage dispensing systems are typically used in beverage dispensing businesses for efficiently dispensing large quantities of beverages. Typically, beverage dispensing systems are used to dispense carbonated alcoholic beverages, such as draft beer and cider. However, non-alcoholic beverages (such as soda) and non-carbonated beverages (such as wine and juices) can also be dispensed with beverage dispensing systems. Beverage dispensing systems are mainly used by professional users, such as in commercial establishments such as bars, restaurants and hotels, however, are also increasingly used by private users such as private homes. [0002] Professional beverage dispensing systems typically dispense beverages served in large beverage kegs. For a professional beverage dispensing system, such a beverage keg can hold 20-50 liters of beverage to allow typically 50-100 beverage dispensing operations before the beverage keg needs to be exchanged. In the ...
