The local registry is maintained in the device's repository and can be analyzed as part of a software extension in the management device. This management can include functions such as detecting problems in the local registry, generating a manifest of registrations represented in the repository, inserting registrations into the repository in their native registry format, and removing all or parts of registrations from the repository. Furthermore, given a particular location in the repository and at least a portion of the data in the repository, the structured extension definition can be used to determine the particular registration category represented at that location.
