[0026] As detailed below, instead of a PKI system in which organizations provide different services to different organizations, a PKI management system can provide different services to different federations and their participating organizations. A separate item may for example be one or more products that provide identity data (such as digital certificates) and possibly other security data to be loaded. Each project may involve multiple organizations. In this way the problems with the above-mentioned PKI systems that arise when multiple organizations are involved in common projects can be improved. As used herein, an organization refers to any entity composed of any number of individuals, regardless of legal structure or state. Non-exhaustive examples of such organizations include corporations and businesses, whether public or private, and not-for-profit and for-profit, government agencies or agencies, and any other group of individuals or even organizations.
