Abstract

The invention provides a method for extracting leaf of Chinese ilex of broadleaf holly leaf, and total saponin of the leaf of Chinese ilex of the broadleaf holly leaf extracted by the method and application thereof. The method comprises the following steps of: (1) extracting the leaf of Chinese ilex of the broadleaf holly leaf by using 50-70% ethanol aqueous solution in a backflow manner;(2) filtering and removing ethanol in an extracting solution; (3) adsorbing a large-hole resin column in the solution obtained by the step (2), and eluting the large-hole resin column sequentially by using water, 10-30% alkaline ethanol aqueous solution with a pH value of 9-11, 10-30% ethanol aqueous solution and 50-70% ethanol aqueous solution; and (4) eluting the large-hole resin column by using the 50-70% ethanol aqueous solution to obtain a solution, and concentrating and drying the solution to obtain the leaf of Chinese ilex of the broadleaf holly leaf. The prepared total saponin can be applied to preparing medicines for reducing cholesterol and blood fat and resisting atherosclerosis.
