Abstract

Feature capabilities of conversation clients are conveyed to participants in a conversation such that real time decisions can be made and a common set of capabilities are selected to be used in the conversation. User interfaces of participating clients are then adjusted to reflect those capabilities. Further decisions and adjustments may be performed during the conversation in response to changes in participating clients and their capabilities.

Description

Background technique [0001] Modern communication systems have a large number of capabilities including the integration of various communication modalities and different services. For example, instant messaging, voice / video communication, data / application sharing, whiteboarding, and other forms of communication can be combined with the subscriber's presence and availability information. These systems may provide subscribers with enhanced capabilities, such as providing callers with instructions regarding various status categories, alternate contacts, calendar information, and similar features. [0002] Feature capabilities include advanced end-to-end capabilities of the collaboration system reflected in the user interface in some way, such as end-user features. Examples of user interface features are specific control buttons, windows, or popup menu items. Feature capabilities are typically associated with modalities (eg, audio / video, instant messaging (IM), application sharin...
