A menu item searching method comprises the steps of enabling all menu items stored in a memory of an electronic device to be sequentially arranged in an unfolded menu in a listing mode and displaying the unfolded menu on a screen of the electronic device; receiving a keyword input to a search bar of the unfolded menu by a user; searching a menu item matched with the received keyword in the unfolded menu and displaying the matched menu item in the unfolded menu. The invention further provides a menu item searching system. By utilizing the menu item searching method, all the menu items can be arranged in the unfolded menu in the listing mode, and the user can find the menu item needing searching in a searching mode.
