Abstract

Systems and methods for reporting spam detected within a communication network are disclosed. Entities in the network detect electronic messages containing spam and generate spam reports on the electronic messages. The spam report is in a format enhanced with newly defined fields. A spam center (130) in said network receives said spam reports from said entities and processes said spam reports to generate spam rules for detection in electronic messages transmitted over said communication network Spam. The spam center (130) then selectively distributes the spam rules to one or more entities of the communication network based on the analysis of the spam reports. The entity may then use the spam rules to detect spam in other electronic messages transmitted over the communications network.
