Abstract

In a camera system having an interchangeable lens apparatus (1) and a camera body (17), a lens controller (7) and a camera controller (12) conduct timely change between a first communication method for a video shooting mode and a second communication method for a still-image shooting mode, and reciprocally communicated via a contact unit (14). The camera controller (12) acquires time information in advance by an initial communication with the lens controller (7), and upon changeover from the first communication method to the second communication method, it interrupts communication after request information for changeover of the communication methods is transmitted to the lens controller (7), and initiates communication in the second communication method after elapse of a transition time indicated by time information.
