Problems solved by technology

However, these designs may require relatively powerful and large transducers, with attendant disadvantages in size, weight and / or power consumption of mobile phones
Additionally, leakage causes frequency response variations such that some frequencies are affected differently than others
For example, it is often more difficult for users to hear low frequencies when the acoustic leakage is relatively large
Therefore, increasing the volume of the speaker cannot adequately solve the problem of sound leakage

Abstract

The electronic device includes a housing including a speaker configured to be positioned adjacent to an ear of a user and a position sensitive area on the housing configured to sense the relative position of the ear of the user when the ear is positioned adjacent to the speaker. The location of the housing and generates an acoustic leak location signal in response to the sensed location of the user's ear. A control unit is in communication with the speaker and the position sensitive area, and is configured to provide an electrical input signal to the speaker. The control unit is also configured to receive the acoustic leak location signal and adjust the electrical input signal in response to the acoustic leak location signal.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a mobile communication terminal for reducing the effect of acoustic leakage. Background technique [0002] Mobile communication terminals, such as cellular telephones, typically include a speaker located on the terminal housing for emitting sound to the user's ear, for example during a telephone conversation. When a separate hands-free or headset unit is not used, this mode of operation may be referred to as "hand-held mode". [0003] The sound signature heard by the user's ear varies with position and force applied to the user's ear, which results in varying degrees of acoustic leakage. The leakage tolerance of a particular mobile communication terminal can be improved through acoustic and / or mechanical design. However, these designs may require relatively powerful and large transducers, with attendant disadvantages in terms of size, weight and / or power consumption of the mobile phone. Additionally, leakage causes frequency...
