The slam-shut safety device 10 is connected to a main regulator (not shown) in the gas distribution system to provide safety shut-off capability in the event of a main regulator failure. The slam shut safety device 10 includes a valve unit 11 , a slam shut unit 13 , and an actuator 15 . The valve portion 11 includes a valve body 12 having a fluid inlet 14 and a fluid outlet 16 communicated by a fluid passage forming a flow path 18 . A valve seat 20 is positioned in the valve body 12 and defines a flow aperture 21 forming part of the flow path 18 . Thus, fluid passing through the slam-shut safety device 10 flows from the fluid inlet 14 , through the flow path 18 including the valve seat 20 (and the flow hole 21 formed by the valve seat 20 ), and then to the fluid outlet 16 .

Abstract

The present disclosure provides an emergency shut-off safety device, which includes a valve body, a valve disc, a positioning pin and a guide ring. A valve disc is disposed within the valve body and is movable along the slam-shut axis between an open position and a closed position. A reset pin is operably connected to the valve disc and is movable relative to the valve body along the slam-shut axis between a non-shut-off position placing the valve disc in an open position and a shut-off position placing the valve disc in a closed position . The guide ring includes a hollow cylindrical portion extending away from the valve disc and at least partially beyond the reset pin, which is slidably disposed in the guide hole of the slam-shut body connected to the valve body and supports the reset pin, thereby providing the reset pin and the valve Discs provide additional structural integrity.
