Embodiment Construction

[0016] The drawings mentioned above only represent several implementations of the present invention, and the description thereof is relatively specific and detailed, but should not be construed as limiting the patent scope of the present invention. It should be pointed out that those skilled in the art can make several modifications and improvements without departing from the concept of the present invention, and these all belong to the protection scope of the present invention.

[0017] The present invention discloses a camshaft having asymmetric chamfers for guiding ball bearings into deeper camshaft grooves to avoid loss of balls when a decelerating force is applied to the camshaft. The chamfer deviates the ball deeper into the groove and away from the front opening of the hammer during axial movement of the hammer. Thus, when a tool, such as an impact wrench, is accidentally dropped, the balls are less likely to slip off the front face of the hammer.

Abstract

A camshaft is disclosed having an asymmetric chamfer for guiding ball bearings deeper into the camshaft grooves to avoid loss of balls when an immediate deceleration force is applied. When the tool with the camshaft and hammer is dropped, the chamfer separates the ball from the opening in the front face of the hammer that moves axially relative to the camshaft. Therefore, when the impact wrench is dropped, the balls are less likely to slip out of the hammer's front opening.

Description

technical field [0001] This application relates to ball bearing systems. In particular, the present application relates to ball deflection chamfers that, when force is applied to the ball bearings, deflect the ball bearings into a favorable position to prevent accidental disengagement of the balls from the system. Background technique [0002] Many tools have parts that interact with each other through ball bearings. Balls are usually set in a groove or circular hole and provide a rolling connection between two moving parts, reducing friction between the parts and enabling relative motion between the parts. [0003] For example, impact wrenches include a ball bearing interface between the camshaft and hammer. The balls are inserted into straight or curved grooves set along the periphery of the camshaft and engage mating grooves in the hammer. Figure 5 Shown is such a camshaft. The camshaft 535 includes a base 540 and a shaft 545 extending from the base 540 . Shaft 545 i...
