Abstract

A compactor (10) includes a frame (12) and a compaction element (20) coupled to the frame (12). A side wheel assembly ( 24 ) is also coupled to the frame ( 12 ) and is adjustable between a raised configuration and a lowered configuration in which the side wheel ( 26 ) contacts the base ( 200 ) outside the compaction element ( 20 ). The compactor (10) further includes a spray system (34) for the side wheel (26) and is in control communication with the spray system (34) and is configured to respond to detection of a lowering of the side wheel (26) A control device instructing activation of the sprinkler system (34).
