The transmission method comprises the following steps: receiving a business message by a first port and a second port which are formed in a first network element and are successful in aggregation; determining a main port and a spare port from the first port and the second port; according to an aggregation condition of the main port and an aggregation condition of the spare port, selecting a current working port from the main port and the spare port; distributing the business message to the working port, and sending the business message on a physical link of the working port. By the transmission method, after the main port as the current working port fails, the spare port can be used as the current working port instead of the main port to continue to send the business message, so that the time required by the spare port in the prior art from invalid aggregation to successful aggregation is saved; before the spare port replaces the main port, the business message transmitted before is received, so that the probability of message loss in the aggregation process of the spare port is reduced.
