A liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate, a second substrate opposite the first substrate, a fence structure, a plurality of cholesteric liquid crystals having mutually different color, and a medium layer. The medium layer is disposed in at least one of the sub-pixel liquid crystal channels to allow the liquid crystal cells to have mutually different cell gaps. According to the invention, electric fields of the cholesteric liquid crystal cells with different colors can be individually adjusted by arranging the medium layer in the different sub-pixel liquid crystal channels to be different in thickness or in material characteristic or by whether arranging the medium layer in one of the sub-pixel liquid crystal channels, so the cholesteric liquid crystals different in color are driven by utilizing the same voltage difference, and thus a driver architecture is simplified.
