Embodiment Construction

[0045] According to an embodiment of the lighting device 100 for performing the method, such as figure 1 As shown in , it includes a light source 102 , an optical sensor 104 and a control unit 106 . Optical sensors include a camera 108 . The control unit 106 is connected to the light source 102 and the optical sensor 104 .

[0046] According to an embodiment of the method of self-calibrating a lighting device, the method comprises the operations of: monitoring a calibration area comprising at least part of an area that can be illuminated by the lighting device; and calibrating a light output setting of the lighting device. In this embodiment, the calibration area corresponds to the illumination area of the lighting device 100 , ie the area illuminated by the lighting device 100 . image 3 The illuminated areas 302, 304, 306, 308 of four different but similar luminaires are illustrated. The calibration area, the area around the luminaire to be used as the basis for the sel...

Abstract

A method of self-calibrating a lighting device, comprising: -monitoring a calibration area, which encompasses at least a part of an area being illuminable by the lighting device; and -calibrating the light output settings of the lighting device. The monitoring operation includes repeating: -detecting any relevant change, out of a set of relevant changes comprising at least a light intensity change, in the calibration area during a monitoring time, while keeping the light output of the lighting device constant; and -determining an amount of change within the monitoring time; until the amount of change is below a limit value. Thereby the lighting device does not perform the calibration until it has detected a period of no or small changes.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a method of self-calibrating a lighting device and a lighting device arranged to perform the method. Background technique [0002] Lighting systems are getting smarter to respond to the growing need for personalization, efficiency and simplicity. In recent years, lighting devices have evolved to address these needs. For example, a lighting device called LumiMotion, manufactured by Philips, includes a camera and a processing unit to detect the presence of a person approaching the lighting device and temporarily turn on the lighting device or increase its light output. When it is not triggered, the lighting is dimmed or turned off completely. Another example is so-called tunable white lighting, which enhances the appearance of illuminated products. The lighting device is arranged to determine the appropriate settings by analyzing the color of the illuminated product by means of image processing using an embedded camera and pro...
