The method includes the following steps: an instruction of switching to a target audio and video application is received; according to the instruction, a playing interface of the target audio and video application is started, and a currently playing audio and video application is set as a background program; the started target audio and video application is indicated to send a request of applying for audio and video resources to an audio and video resource lock management module; and if the audio and video resources of a corresponding target audio and video application in the audio and video resource lock management module are in an unlocked state, the audio and video resource lock management module receives the request, allocates the unlocked audio and video resources to the target audio and video application, and locks allocated audio and video resources. Through the method provided by the invention, returning to a homepage is not needed to serve as a transition step for application switching, and a decoder resource conflict in a switching process is avoided while the audio and video applications are rapidly switched.
