Abstract

The present invention provides a method for utilizing adaptive motion vector precision. According to one embodiment, it is determined whether to use adaptive motion vector precision for the current block according to the prediction mode / partition type of the current block. If adaptive motion vector precision is used, the current motion vector precision is determined for the current motion vector of the current block, and with the current motion vector precision, the current motion vector is encoded or decoded.
