Abstract

The invention provides an object tracking method and device, and belongs to the image processing field. The method comprises that an object image corresponding to a tracking object and a position point corresponding to the object image are obtained from an initial frame of image, the object image serves as a matching template, and an ScSPM characteristic vector of the matching template is obtained according to a sparse coding algorithm of a spatial pyramid matching technology; according to a position point corresponding to the object image in a (t-1)th frame of image and a movement estimation fused particle filter algorithm, particles in a tth frame of image are obtained, and according to the position of each particle in the tth image, a sampling particle area corresponding to each particle is determined, and an ScSPM characteristic vector of each particle area is calculated; and according to the ScSPM characteristic vectors of the multiple sampling particle areas and the ScSPM characteristic vector of the matching template, an optimal position of the object in the tth frame in a corresponding moment is obtained.
