Abstract

A self-rotating display device comprising an external light-transmitting container (402) containing a light-transmitting fluid (406) and a body (404) containing a motor (421) for moving the body relative to The outer container rotates. The body also carries an amount of fluid (430a) contacting the fluid in the outer container through a pressure balance gap (431) in the body that forms a fluid path between the interior cavity of the body and the interior chamber of the outer container. The fluid path forms a self-regulating pressure relief structure that adapts to slight pressure changes in the fluid, eg due to weather conditions. A dedicated smaller size fluid submerged motor with separate field and compass magnets that do not rotate relative to each other helps to eliminate magnetic cogging. The device can be manufactured according to a method that eliminates the necessity of filling holes in the body.
