Abstract

A method of preventing dieseling of an engine for a mild hybrid electric vehicle includes steps of: determining whether an ignition switch is set to an OFF position; determining whether an engine stopcondition is satisfied when the ignition switch is set to the OFF position; determining a target time point that completes a rotation of a mild hybrid starter and generator (MHSG) according to an engine speed when the engine stop condition is satisfied; and controlling a speed of the MHSG from a time point when the engine stop condition is satisfied to the target time point to reduce a speed of the engine.
