Abstract

Devices and methods related to switches are discussed. An inverse current condition may be detected, and a voltage at a node (OUT_R) associated with a switch driver may be driven to a predetermined voltage in case of detection of an inverse current condition.

Description

technical field [0001] The present application relates to switching devices and to methods for operating switching devices. Background technique [0002] Power switches are conventionally used to couple a load to a supply voltage. In recent years, "smart" power switching devices have been developed that are equipped with one or more diagnostic capabilities and protection features against, for example, overload and short circuit events. In some implementations, in a power switching device, a MOS transistor can be used as a power switch that selectively couples a load to a supply voltage. Such power switches are used, for example, in modern automotive and industrial systems to replace conventional fuses and electromechanical switches for low voltage applications with medium to high current loads. In this application, a first load terminal (also referred to as an input terminal) of the power switching device is coupled to a supply voltage, and a second load terminal (also ref...
