Problems solved by technology

However, when the user's finger moves slowly, this technique may perform poorly when transitioning from within tolerance to outside tolerance, resulting in an undesirably jerky UI response, which is useful for applications where the user expects fine movements (e.g. , drawing apps and first-person shooters) are very unpleasant

Abstract

The present disclosure relates to touch motion tracking and reporting techniques for slow touch movement. A method includes reporting a first coordinate of a touch when the touch to a first location on a touch display is sensed. Upon sensing that movement of the touch along the first path from the first position to the second position exceeds a tolerance distance, the intermediate coordinates of the touch along the first path that do not exceed a cut-off distance is reported such that there is a first gap between the finally reported intermediate coordinates and the second position. Upon sensing more movement of the touch along the second path from the second position to the third position, a second coordinate of the touch is reported, and the reported second coordinate of the touch is a point along the first path calculated by subtracting the first gap from a distance between the first position and the third position and then adding a first compensation difference thereto.

Description

technical field [0001] This application relates to the field of capacitive finger sensing, and more particularly to the use of touch tolerance techniques for smooth tracking of slow moving touches. Background technique [0002] Touch screens are pervasive in today's computing environments. Laptop computers, desktop computers, tablets, smart phones, and smart watches employ touch screens for user input for navigation and control of these devices. Therefore, recognizing a user's intention via a touch input becomes an important feature of a touch screen device. Furthermore, distinguishing actual user touches of the touchscreen from noise and other non-input detections is also important for meaningful communication of user intent conveyed by touches to the touchscreen. [0003] Typically, touchscreen input (eg, touch) is initiated by a user by placing a finger on the touchscreen, which causes the touchscreen to generate various signals that are used by a touchscreen controller...
