The method comprises the following steps: retrieving from a corpus to obtain a first half sentence statement of which the word superposition ratio with a query statement is greater than a preset threshold value; according to the corresponding relation between the upper half sentence and the lower half sentence of the corpus, screening out the lower half sentence corresponding to the upper half sentence obtained through retrieval from the corpus, and forming a reply sentence candidate set; respectively calculating semantic matching degrees of the query statement and statements in the reply statement candidate set; and from the reply statement candidate set, screening out statements of which the semantic matching degree with the query statement is greater than a preset semantic matching degree threshold value, and taking the statements as reply statements of the query statement. The query statement retrieval reply method gets rid of dependence on rules and templates, the constraint of the rules and the templates on the query statement reply quality is fundamentally solved, and the query statement reply quality can be improved.
