The invention discloses a preparation method of a series type TiN / TiO2 composite film, the preparation method comprises the following steps: dispersing TiN nano powder and a dispersing aid in deionized water, adjusting the pH to be larger than 6, and performing ultrasonic treatment to obtain a TiN coating precursor sol; heating a clean substrate to be not lower than 100 DEG C, spraying the TiN coating precursor sol obtained by ultrasonic atomization on the surface of the heated substrate, and cooling to obtain a TiN film; and annealing the obtained TiN film to obtain the series type TiN / TiO2 composite film. The invention also discloses the series type TiN / TiO2 composite film prepared by the preparation method and application thereof in a glass coating layer. The hydrophilicity and photocatalytic properties of the series type TiN / TiO2 composite film are controllable, and the performance of plated glass can be effectively controlled after plating of the series type TiN / TiO2 composite film on the glass.
