Abstract

The invention provides a fault alarm method and device. When a BMC on a server detects a first type of fault, the first type of fault comprises a fault detected by a CPU of the server, and a screen capture function of a remote console is called to perform screen capture on server OS information displayed by a display screen by using the screen capture function of the remote console to obtain screen capture information; and then fault alarm is carried out, wherein the fault alarm comprises the screen capture information. Compared with the prior art, the fault alarm method and device have the advantages that when the BMC detects the first type of fault, the screen capture of the OS information can be realized through the screen capture function of the remote console without depending on an operating system, so that the fault alarm method and device can be suitable for various operating systems; and moreover, when a fault is detected through the CPU of the server, the BMC triggers the screen capture function of the remote console, so that screen capture can be performed in time when the fault occurs, fault analysis is facilitated, and loss can be stopped in time, and the fault processing efficiency of the server is improved.
