Abstract

The present invention discloses a method and system for assisting a clinician in determining when and how to perform a lung recruitment procedure. The method includes a user-configurable interface that an operator or agency can set to correspond to best practices. Based on the information entered into the configurable user interface, the method and algorithm automatically determine when a recruitment procedure should be instituted (110). The system may manually or automatically enable initiation of the recruitment procedure (110) according to clinician and institutional preference. The algorithm includes a number of process steps (60) performed in a clinically relevant sequence to eliminate patient condition options and provide appropriate suggested actions prior to initiating the lung recruitment procedure (110).
