Embodiment Construction

[0025] The present disclosure relates to a system and method for analyzing a patient's electrocardiogram (ECG) data to provide information to caregivers (eg, rescuers) and / or medical devices (eg, defibrillators) used to treat the patient. Feedback on whether a shock should be delivered to the patient's heart in an effort to return the heartbeat to a normal pattern. In particular, the present disclosure describes continuous checking of pre-validated conditions with high accuracy.

[0026] The positive predictive value (PPV) is set in this paper as:

[0027] PPV = (number of true positives) / (total number of negative judgments)

[0028] Where: "True Positive" (TP) is the event that the test makes a positive prediction and the subject has a positive result according to the gold standard provided from the comprehensive patient database, and "False Positive" (FP) is the event that the test makes a positive predicted, while the subject had a negative result according to the gold st...

Abstract

The invention discloses a defibrillator. The defibrillator is used to analyze electrocardiogram (ECG) data to identify whether it would be beneficial for a caregiver to administer an electric shock tothe heart in an effort to get the heart back into a normal pattern and a consistent, strong beat. By conducting a running check for conditions that are pre-validated by a comprehensive patient database to have high predictive value (e.g., with a low false-positive rate), a shock-able rhythm can be identified fast (e.g., less than 6 seconds, less than 3 seconds, possibly in less than a second) andwithout having to analyze ECG data for longer time segments than would otherwise be required using conventional methods.

Description

[0001] This application is a divisional application of an invention patent application with an application date of January 13, 2017, an application number of 201780003386.3, and an invention title of "Rapid Identification of Shockable or Non-shockable Rhythms in ECG Data". technical field [0002] This document relates to cardiac resuscitation systems and techniques, and in particular to defibrillators that deliver defibrillating shocks to a patient's heart through properly placed electrodes. Background technique [0003] Heart attack is a common cause of death. A heart attack occurs when (eg, due to blockage of the heart vasculature) a portion of the heart tissue loses circulation and is thus damaged. Heart disease and other abnormalities can cause ventricular fibrillation (VF), which is an abnormal heart rhythm (arrhythmia) that causes the heart to lose its ability to pump. VF occurs when normal and regular electrical pulses are replaced by irregular and rapid pulses, whi...
