Abstract

The mobile communication device detects the initiation of an emergency communication to emergency services associated with the emergency telephone number. Emergency communications are attempted using a first communications path associated with a mobile communications service provider. The mobile communication device determines that emergency communication using the first communication path has failed. The identification of the destination of the failed emergency communication is determined using location and telemetry data from the mobile communication device. Connection of the mobile communication device to the identified destination is facilitated using the second communication path. At the determined destination, the mobile communication device is identified as the originator of the connection.
