Abstract

An attachment system for releasably attaching a sensor node to a cable when in a coupled state includes a clamp base and a clamp grip. The clamp base is fixed to a surface of the sensor node. The clamp base further includes a latch that is biased in a latched position when the attachment system is in both the coupled state and an uncoupled state. The clamp grip is pivotably attached the clamp baseand biased in an open position when the attachment system is in the uncoupled state. The clamp grip is secured to the clamp base by the latch when the attachment system is in the coupled state.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims priority to U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 62 / 682,728, filed June 8, 2018, entitled "Sensor node attachment mechanism and cable retrieval system," which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety and for all purposes. technical field [0003] The present application relates generally to seismic surveys and sensor arrangements for collecting seismic data. More specifically, the present application relates to improved deployment and recovery techniques for seismic receivers and other types of sensors or nodes. Background technique [0004] Traditionally, marine seismic surveys have been performed by firing an acoustic source that creates bursting bubbles in the water column. The collapse of the bubbles generates an acoustic pulse that propagates through the water and into the earth's crust in the form of seismic waves. Some seismic waves reflect off subterranean structures, and...
