The power generation device comprises a BSG motor, a pre-charging DCDC, a loading battery pack, a battery management module, a power generation device controller and a relay. A driving end of the BSG motor is connected with an engine of a commercial vehicle, a bus of the BSG motor is connected with a power supply end of the battery management module through a contact of the relay, an output end of the pre-charging DCDC is connected with the bus of the BSG motor, the power supply end of the battery management module is connected with loading equipment, and the power generation device controller controls operation of all the equipment; the control method comprises the following steps: firstly, judging whether the commercial vehicle is in a driving or parking state and whether the loading battery pack is allowed to be charged; then, responding power generation torque requests of the BSG motor during parking and driving according to conditions; and finally monitoring the charging of the BSG motor. The power generation efficiency and the reliability of the whole vehicle are improved, and the vehicle performance and emission in the power generation process are optimized and improved.
