Abstract
This document describes techniques and systems that enable an input-mode notification for a multi-input mode. A radar field (110) enables an electronic device (102) to accurately determine the presence or absence of a user near the electronic device. Further, the electronic device can determine whether an application that can receive input through radar-based gestures is operating on the electronic device. Using these techniques, the electronic device can present an input-mode notification (118) on a display (114) of the electronic device when the user is near to alert the user that radar gesture input is available for interacting with the electronic device. This allows the device to provide the user with feedback that can educate the user about what the electronic device is capable of, and allows the user to take advantage of the additional functionality and features provided by the availability of the radar gestures.
Description
Background technique [0001] Both business and personal use often rely on electronic devices. Users communicate with them via voice and touch, and use them as virtual assistants to schedule meetings and events, consume digital media, and share presentations and documents. An important part of effective communication is feedback so users know a message has been received. Many conventional electronic devices provide audio or physical feedback, such as beeps or vibrations, when a user makes a touch input or speaks a voice command. This feedback gives the user confidence that the user input has been received, or warns the user that the input was unsuccessful. Additionally, some electronic devices provide indicia to tell the user how to input, such as a keypad or microphone icon to let the user know how to access touch or voice input modes. [0002] With the help of machine learning techniques, electronic devices can become familiar with a user's routines and preferences, and can...
