The structure has multiple layers (11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19), and a respective layer is representative of a respective technical domain of the mechatronic system. A multiplicity of input data for the mechatronic system and the stipulated structure are taken as a basis for generating a model in the form of a multilayer network (20). The multilayer network comprises a multiplicity of nodes (110, 120, 130, 140, 150, 160, 170, 180, 190) and a multiplicity of connections (300) between in each case two nodes.
