Abstract

Exemplary embodiments of an instantaneous expansion, ballistic actuated wellbore plug and related systems and methods are disclosed. Exemplary embodiments of an instantaneous expansion, ballistic actuated wellbore plug include, among other things, a ballistic carrier carrying ballistic components and detonators and housed within a hollow interior cavity of an outer carrier having an unexpanded form and an expanded form. According to an exemplary method for disposing the plug within a wellbore casing, detonation of the ballistic member with a detonator transitions the outer carrier from an unexpanded form to an expanded form in which the outer carrier is frictionally sealing engaged with the wellbore casing.
