Embodiment Construction

[0101] will now refer to Figure 1A to Figure 1H as well as Figure 2A to Figure 2D An example of a shielded intubation guide used during endotracheal intubation of a subject 100 is described, Figure 1A to Figure 1H The shielded cannula guide 110 used in different steps of the procedure is shown, Figure 2A to Figure 2D Further details of the shielded cannula guide 110 are shown.

[0102] The shielded intubation guide 110 is particularly adapted to allow the use of a mirrored intubation device 140 such as a laryngoscope (e.g. Figure 1C to Figure 1F shown) perform endotracheal intubation. For the purposes of the following example, it is assumed that the intubation device 140 is a one-handed intubation device, as described in WO / 2016 / 090435A1, but it is understood that other forms suitably adapted to the shielded cannula guide 110 may be used intubation device. For example, embodiments of the shielded cannula guide 110 may be configured for use with available video laryngos...

Abstract

A shielded intubation guide for use during endotracheal intubation, the shielded intubation guide comprising: an elongate body defining a channel extending between a proximal opening and a distal opening for receiving a lens portion of an intubation device, the shielded intubation guide configured for insertion of a mouth of a subject, such that the proximal opening is positioned proximate the mouth and the distal opening is positioned in the airway of the subject; and a shield around the proximal opening for substantially reducing discharge from the mouth, the shielded intubation guide allowing endotracheal intubation to be performed by: inserting the lens portion of the intubation device into the channel; positioning a distal end of the lens portion proximate the throat of the subject; and advancing an endotracheal tube along the lens portion through the channel into the trachea of the subject.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to shielded intubation guides and methods for use during endotracheal intubation, particularly adapted to allow endotracheal intubation of a subject while substantially lowering the distance from the subject's mouth during the procedure. discharge from the department. Background technique [0002] Endotracheal intubation is a procedure in which a medical professional inserts a flexible plastic tube (endotracheal tube), usually through the mouth, into the windpipe. This allows for artificial ventilation, which is required when the ability to breathe is impaired by illness or injury in emergency situations, or interfered with by drug-induced depression during surgery. This is a universal process that is done in the same way all over the world. [0003] Thousands of intubations are performed every day by different professionals, especially anesthesiologists, intensive care physicians, emergency physicians, prehospital physi...
