Abstract

A computer-implemented method includes triggering, with at least one processor, a sound wave generator to generate predefined sound waves directed to a 3-dimensional (3D) layout associated with an entity from a plurality of entities, where each entity of the plurality of entities is registered with a corresponding 3D layout embedded with a predefined number of 3D geometries; in response to receiving a modified acoustic wave from the 3D layout, comparing, with at least one processor, the modified acoustic wave to a plurality of calibrated acoustic waves associated with the plurality of entities to determine identification details including a match between the modified acoustic wave and calibrated acoustic waves from the plurality of calibrated acoustic waves; and identifying, with at least one processor, the entity associated with the calibrated acoustic wave based on the identification details. A system and medium are also disclosed.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates generally to acoustic systems for identifying entities, and more particularly, but not specifically, to systems and methods for identifying entities using acoustic waves and a 3-dimensional (3D) layout. Background technique [0002] Payment transactions use various technologies. Enable cashless payment transactions using various payment applications. Before initiating a transaction, the entity that will be transacting must be identified using the payment application. Well-known ways of identifying entities are barcodes and Quick Response (QR) codes. This type of identification uses an image processing module to scan the code and process the image of the code to identify the entity. In order to scan the code, the user may be required to stand in front of the code and hold the camera of the user device in greater proximity to detect the code. Such visual code requires greater device proximity, and poor image quality can...
