Embodiment Construction

[0019] As shown in Figure 1, an electron gun generally comprises a series of electrodes arranged in succession along a longitudinal axis Z which coincides with the longitudinal axis of the cathode ray tube to which the electron gun is fixed.

[0020] The electrodes are drilled with openings 11 which serve as passages for the electron beams generated by the one or more cathodes at the bottom of the electron gun. The electrodes are connected to different potentials and the opening 11 of one electrode together with the corresponding opening of the next electrode forms an electrostatic lens which corrects the trajectory and shape of the electron beam. Therefore, the location of the electrodes is very important to ensure optimum operation of the electron gun.

[0021] Positioning along the longitudinal axis Z is achieved in a well-known manner by interposing wedges of precisely controlled thickness between the electrodes. The positioning of the electrode openings in a plane orthog...

Abstract

A method of assembling an electron gun for a cathode-ray tube comprises the steps loading of at least two electrodes (20, 70) one above the other, adjusting the distance between the electrodes along the longitudinal axis of the gun, and loading the electrodes between the two jaws (30, 30', 31, 31', 60, 60', 61, 61') of a positioning tool (35). The further includes positioning of the electrodes in the plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis by clamping the jaws of the tool in a single direction, until a pressure is exerted on four corners (23) of each electrode and retaining by hot insertion of glass beads (40) into claws arranged on the periphery of the electrode openings of the positioning tool. The tool holds the electrodes in planes perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the gun. The jaws have a profile intended to cooperate with the shape of the corners of the electrodes in such a way that upon closure of the jaws, the electrodes are brought to their nominal position in the plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a method for assembling electron gun electrodes of a cathode ray tube, and more particularly to an electrode shape capable of carrying out this process. The invention is particularly suitable for electron guns of cathode ray tubes with increased resolution. Background technique [0002] Electron guns take the form of a series of electrodes drilled with one or more openings that pass through the electron beams to form an image on the screen of a cathode ray tube into which the gun is inserted. There are usually metal claws on the peripheral surface of the electrodes into which hot glass beads can be inserted to hold the electrode groups making up the electron gun in place. The openings on the two opposing electrodes make up the electron lens and act on the trajectory and shape of the electron beam passing through the lens. Therefore, the relative positions of the electrode openings are very critical, which must have hi...
