Abstract

A movable infusion pump (10), which has a syringe barrel (16) with a fluid chamber (19) and an inner wall (22). The infusion pump (10) also has an infusion set (14) that dispenses fluid from a syringe barrel (16). The infusion machine (14) has a member (42) that engages a portion of the syringe barrel (16) to linearly move the infusion machine (14) within the syringe barrel (16).

Description

field of invention [0001] The present invention relates to medical pumps, especially mobile infusion pumps. Background of the invention [0002] Medical patients often require precise continuous drug infusions or precise infusions at set time intervals. However, some liquid medicaments, or medicines, are difficult to achieve their maximum efficacy by conventional injection techniques. Furthermore, many pharmaceuticals can only achieve their full potential efficacy through precise infusion over an extended period of time. Pumps for medical use have been developed to provide control over drug delivery by controlling the precise flow rate of drug within the pump, thereby maintaining drug concentrations within therapeutic ranges and avoiding potentially toxic ranges for some drugs. Medical pumps provide the patient with the proper infusion of medication at a controlled flow rate without the need for frequent drug checks. The medical pump also makes it easy to control the admi...
